"Nature Personified"

Yarde' s Nettle vodka is triple distilled and infused with locally foraged stinging nettles, and herbs we grow or pick from the wild. The black colour comes naturally from the infusion of the stinging nettles.
Nettles (urtica dioica) are reputed to have many health benefits and in medieval times were used for the treatment of arthritis, gout and for the healing of wounds and other ailments.
We liken the flavour to being like a spicy cucumber or watermelon.
You can either enjoy it neat for the full nettle experience, or drink it like pimms with lemonade. We recommend a ratio of 1 part nettle vodka to four parts lemonade poured over lots of ice.
It is 37.5% ABV

Wildlife benefits of nettles
Nettles must be one of the most maligned plants in the countryside. Yet we have a passion for them. Not just because it makes our vodka taste great, but because the plants are so important for wildlife. Nettles are one of the most vital native plants in the UK for our birds, such as chaffinches, house sparrows and bullfinches, where they feed on the seeds during summer and autumn
Butterflies lay eggs on the nettle leaves where they are protected between the stinging hairs of the leaves from grazing animals The caterpillar of the Red Admiral butterfly depend on nettles for its main source of food. Caterpillars of the Small Tortoiseshell, Comma and Peacock also feed on nettles. The rarer Jersey Tiger moth is also attracted to them. Ladybirds love nettles where they find aphids to snack on, who are sheltering on the leaves. |
