Yarde Ciderhouse and Stoke Gabriel
About Stoke Gabriel We’re very lucky to be based in Stoke Gabriel. It is one of the prettiest spots in Devon surrounded by lush fertile valleys and hills, old, historic orchards and of course the mighty River Dart flowing through it. If you lick your lips you’ll taste the salt in the air from this majestic tidal river that dominates the landscape. Atmospheric, salt-laden mists roll off the nearby River Dart and drift up the rolling slopes to where many of Stoke Gabriel’s orchards are. During the summer, the sunshine burns off the mists after a few hours, bathing the ripening apples in glorious sunshine. It is this unique mix of fresh sea air, fluctuations in temperatures and the deep red soil, packed full of minerals and vitamins that gives our cider such a distinct flavour. The lifestyle in Stoke Gabriel is wonderful. When we’re not making cider, we can usually be found sailing our boat Sea Bee on the River Dart, canoeing or looking after our colonies of honey bees. |
